The Awakening

Long dormant, peaceful slumbering creature
Rolling in the depths
Dreaming of being awakened once again

What will it take to rouse her
The primal urges that she craves rarely fulfilled
She rests in slumber waiting, watching, yearning

Awakening thoughts and feelings
New energies circle slowly
Feeding the electrical conduit in carefully measured steps

Connection through energy
Through thought
With only another primal creature

Must touch mind, body, and spirit
Must connect on a visceral level
To love the dark places where only light lives

The creature moves restlessly in the depths
Sensing a soul similar to hers
Feeling the presence of primal energy

She shifts in her slumber
Slowly coming out of her deep hibernation
Stretching out her senses toward the other

Stirrings, the slowly swirling stimulus
She reaches forth and starts the slow process of connection
Where will it go, what will occur, will the cravings be fed

To explore and be explored
Mind to mind
Crawling inside the grey matter where danger resides

To take in and let loose
Spirit to spirit
Where divinity resides with deity and souls weep

To touch and be touched
Flesh to flesh
Where transcendence takes place with beauty and pain

Slowly awakening the creature rises to the surface of her deep place
The hiding place where none can touch her
Unless they know the path of painful pleasure and how to touch her mind

Patient, languorous, careful
Hungry, yearning,
The duality of need and caution

Release the fear
Embrace the exploration
Travel the path where most fear to tread

She is restless
She is ravenous
She is connected to the soul of the Universe
She takes it in
She transcends
She releases
Most importantly….She wakes

The Letter S

Shadows of slippery sex.
Shallow slopes of seduction.
Shameful stretches of suction.
Shrewd stations of strangeness.
Shabby sheik of silence.
Shakti of swaying sibilance.
Sheer shout of safety.
Shiny serenades of service.
Shimmy settles slowly.
Shipwrecked souls of satisfaction.
Shiver sessions of satiety.
Shocking sexpot of severity.
Shy sounds of serenity.

Sacred and Profane: The Whore In Context

I have worked hard in my life to take back the meanings of various words that were used in derogatory or demeaning ways; like slut, cunt, and bitch. I embrace these words now and when someone chooses to use them in a derogatory or demeaning fashion toward me, they tend to get rather flustered and the wind removed from their sails, when I look at them with a big grin and say, "Thank you."

Here is the article in full. It's well worth the read. Following are excerpts that touched me specifically, and also the etymology of the words Sacred and Whore.

Sacred and Profane: The Whore in Context, by Eric Francis

Excerpts:

...She is any woman who can surrender enough of her personal identity into an erotic experience that the Goddess may be experienced directly through her. In a society where God is purported to be a man, this is the issue.

You may recognize the sacred whore as the lover who does not put a bargaining value on her sexual favors. You may notice that she is unusually responsive to your specific needs for pleasure or comfort.

...In summary, she is a woman who truly feels good about sexual pleasure, who understands and accepts that it is necessary, and who is not bound by the conventional rules of society. She is a woman who decides for herself when it comes to her own sexuality. Many, many women aspire to this, often secretly.

...The word sacred, from the same root as sacrifice, means worthy of religious veneration, as opposed to profane, which means cast outside the temple. Interesting that the word venerate has as its root Venus, who is the goddess of love and the patron of courtesans. What is sacred and profane thus have a lot to do with who decides where the temple is, and who determines what's allowed in its doors.

...We might also consider the word whore. American Heritage features a prominent sidebar in its third edition dictionary, which says that the Indo-European root ka, to like or desire, is the source. "From the stem karo derived from this root came the prehistoric Common Germanic word horaz with the underlying meaning 'one who desires' and the effective meaning adulterer. From this word came the Old English word hore, the ancestor of Modern English whore. The same stem produced the Latin carus, 'dear', from which came Modern English caress, cherish and charity, the highest form of love." So remember that when you hear any of these words: they are all part of the same word group as whore.

"Contact with East Indian culture has added yet another pair of derivatives from this Indo-Eropean root to the English language," the editors continue. "From the stem kamo came the Sanskrit word kamah, 'love, desire', from which are derived the English borrowings Kama, 'the Hindu god of Love,' and Kamasutra, 'a Sanskrit treatise on the rules of love and marriage according to Hindu law'."...

So there you have it. I hope that you read the article. It is truly fascinating.

A Fairy Tale...

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Dawn. Her laughter joined the birds in song. Her eyes were as changing and expressive as the moon. Her tears filled the oceans. She could get lost in the sun, in the stars, in the flow of a swift moving river. She was sensitive and caring, taking everything to heart and holding it within herself like a precious flower. She laughed and danced, she expressed herself with words, with song, with movement, with service. She desperately wanted to please everyone.

She grew up feeling everything deeply and being told she was too much; too sensitive, too caring, too giving...to stop being who she was. The people who told her these things were well meaning, but the damage was done. So she continued to live and grow, she made friends, tried hard to be what they all wanted her to be, and couldn’t figure out why she was not happy.

She spent time learning music because it spoke to the emotion she tried to hide. She learned how to dance because it was an outlet for the emotion she tried not to feel. She read books to escape the drudgery her life had become. She wrote stories to feed her imagination and try to find her dreams again. She took pictures trying to find the light. She sought god in the religions of the world, trying them on like wedding dresses, searching for the one that fit her dream.

She made love with abandon, giving her body freely, even to those that did not deserve it. She was drawn to submission and pain and discovered it was a way to release the pent up emotions that she had learned how to hide. In her search for god and for someone to love, she discovered that She is all that she needs….but not all that she wants.

She studied the bible, the Koran, Qabalah, Hermetics, Thelema, Sufism, the philosophy of the ancient Egyptians, and was drawn to the stories of the ancient Picts and the Celtic peoples. She discovered the sacredness that is sexuality and the union with GOD through the joining of sexual energies with a partner, or through self-pleasuring. Her goddess came to her through her discovery of the pleasures of pain. She became a priestess in a religion that “almost” fit her perfectly, but she was unable to find the “other”, the person, the priest who could complete her rapture in her devotion, so she moved on, searching, ever searching.

She is learning to love herself as her goddess loves her, devoting herself to the bliss of pain that leads to the release of self in sexual abandon.

Her story is really just beginning, the journey through wanton desires, sharing herself for the healing of the world through sexual union…with one, with many…it has not been fully determined yet.

Her laughter once again joins the birds in song. Her eyes are still as changing and expressive as the moon. Her tears still fill the oceans. She still gets lost in the sun, in the stars, in the flow of a swift moving river. She remains sensitive and caring, taking everything to heart and holding it within herself, nurturing that precious flower. She laughs freely and dances with abandon; she expresses herself with words, with song, with movement, with service. She loses herself with wild abandon when a trusting hand administers pain…and pleasure.

The ending of one chapter leads to the beginning of another. Her story continues…
